Death of a friend

Been a while since my last entry. That does not mean that life has been quiet though. Other than trying to meet deadlines for my assignments, there are other commitments. Two of my siblings got the dengue fever. Sibling no.4 got hospitalised for 5 days while no.6's case was not as bad and could rest at home.

This would have been enough to make us human think of how fragile our life can be. I got a shocker when I received an SMS during 3D animation class on Tuesday 11 July 2006. It was from fellow ex-campmate's handphone. It said that he had passed away.

I could not make it for the burial ceremony because of school. Some of our guardroom personnel did make it though. For some of us who could not make it, paid a visit of condolence that night. I had to miss the highly anticipated NYPMS gathering. I was glad though as I felt some closure to the whole episode.

The sickness he suffered was abrupt. He was admitted just the day before. From what his father said, it was a virus infection to the lungs. His lungs collapsed. He was no smoker or drinker. At 23, Rahman was a year younger than me. He was doing his diploma in Ngee Ann while me in Nanyang. We used to compare our grades. He was doing well in school. He wanted to be a pilot but settled with Aerospace. He loved planes. I brought him along to Asian Aerospace when I won tickets to the show.

He had wanted to train with me for his IPPT. He had wanted to run with me on Tuesdays when the new school term started. When the day came, he did not contact him. I did not contact him back as my leg was and still giving me problems. 2 weeks later, on a Tuesday, I got that SMS.

I do not know how much time I have left. I am still not living to the most that I can. I shall muhasabah, reflect on the things that I do daily. I shall make today better than tomorrow. And don't forget to say thanks to Allah for nothing that you have is truly yours.

Now that MSN contact will forever stay offline... Inna lillah wa inna ilaihi ra jii unn.
